DNV’s new masterclass programme combines several competence modules in order to provide project developers with the best skills for efficient management of carbon offset projects.

The DNV Academy Climate Change core competence building concept is the masterclass, developed in close collaboration with our partners and customers. Masterclasses consist of a series of modules that allows for a professional qualification in key areas within carbon markets, renewable energy and other climate change related fields.
The courses are designed to develop the participants to gain a cutting edge, in-depth and practical qualification across key commercial, regulatory and technological dimensions.
What will you learn?
Our Offset project development & implementation programme is a 9-day course consisting of four modules delivered over a period of three months. The programme provides project developers with the knowledge and skills necessary to ensure high quality of their offset projects throughout the project lifetime.
Modules one and four can be adapted according to the skill level and specialisation of the participants.
Carbon market fundamentals
This module starts with the basics of climate change science and rationale for acting. You will learn about key regulations, standards and voluntary schemes on greenhouse gas emissions, roles and responsibilities of the different players in the carbon market.
Developing carbon offset projects
The second module focuses on application of baseline and monitoring methodologies, how to analyse project additionality and develop monitoring plans as well as the specific steps of the Clean Development Mechanisms (CDM) and Joint Implementation (JI) project cycles.
Monitoring carbon assets
During three days our experienced trainers will go into detail on how to design and implement monitoring plans that comply with approved monitoring methodologies, how to identify and avoid potential monitoring errors and how to assess data quality and data uncertainty in emission reduction monitoring.
Carbon portfolio risk management
The last module is dedicated to risks specific to greenhouse gas offset projects, regulatory risks related to the CDM and JI project cycle and operational risks related to the realisation of certified emissions reductions or verified emissions reductions.
Small classes – quality teachers
A masterclass involves a maximum of 16 participants. It is scheduled with courses over a period of several months allowing for participants to utilise the new knowledge in their daily work before moving on to the next module.
The basic idea is that we want to provide you with the knowledge, the insights and the expertise we derive from our daily practice, in the form of highly effective, interactive and hands-on training that helps you apply new knowledge directly to your own working environment.
Each course is delivered by two highly qualified tutors, with extensive field experience, working in team to ensure an efficient learning session. All trainers are carefully selected, trained and coached continuously on their didactical skills.
The goal is always to help you improve your business performance
