Course code:NA-06
Duration:3 days
Dates:on request
Venue:on request
Course fee:NOK 3.750 per day and person

Description
The course is an introduction to programs for FE analyses of the cargo hold area in accordance with the common structural rules. This includes modelling, analysis, postprocessing yield and buckling strength checks. The course also covers submodelling for a local analysis of a bracket detail.

Focus is put on modelling using the Nauticus Hull 2D- and 3D-modellers, and idealisation to Patran-Pre for meshing and analysis. A brief introduction to Xtract for stress evaluation and use of PULS for automatic buckling checks will also be given.

The course will be a combination of lectures and hands-on training. The hands-on example will be based on the scantlings model used in the Rule Check course.

The course will also provide a presentation of the IACS Common Structural Rules for Oil Tankers and their requirements to strength assessment analyses of the cargo hold area.

Learning objectives
After the course you should be able to use Nauticus Hull for cargo hold modelling and execute FE-analyses for buckling control and strength and stress level assessment.

Target group
Naval architects, designers, hull structural engineers and approval engineers with no or limited experience using Nauticus Hull for the common structural rules for oil tankers.

Prerequisite
Basic understanding of ship structures and hull strength and use of FE-Analyses for strength calculations. Knowledge in Nauticus Hull as covered in NA-02 Nauticus Hull RuleCheck - DNV Rules is recommended.
