Risks are calculated taking into account corrosion rates from different degradation mechanisms; then reduced through inspection planning.

Orbit Onshore is a software tool which uses DNV's Risk Based Inspection (RBI) technology to help you improve your inspection management programme. It allows you to quantify the risk for each piece of equipment, identifying the items with the highest probability of future failure and greatest potential cost or consequences.

An inspection programme can then be devised to manage the maintenance of the equipment more efficiently, focusing your inspection resources on the high risk areas and minimising business interruption. As a result you can improve safety and reduce inspection costs.

Orbit Onshore contains modules tailored for risk analyses of onshore industrial installations. These include:

Damage mechanism calculations
  • internal thinning
  • stress corrosion cracking
  • external damage
  • brittle fracture
  • fatigue
  • high temperature hydrogen attack
  • lining failure
  • pressure relief valve failure
Consequence calculation
  • using Phast technology
  • direct input of user-estimated values

Inspection planning optimisation, cost benefit analysis and final approval
