The semi-submersible platform is owned by CNOOC, China National Offshore Oil Corporation, the detailed design was done by MARIC, and it was built in Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co. LTD.

MARIC, the Marine Design & Research Institute of China, have been using our software Nauticus Hull, HydroD and Wadam for many years. With the booming of the Chinese offshore industry, they established their Offshore Department earlier this year, and in this first practical Chinese semi project for CNOOC they would like to do detailed design as well. Also they want to be prepared to bid for the basic design of the next semi projects.

The mooring analysis is crucial to deep-water offshore structures. After demonstrations and discussion with their technical engineers and director, DNV Software signed the DeepC software contract with them end of May, along with three days on-site training delivered by Dr. Joe Zhang.
