In August 2009, a contract was signed between GDSEI, Guangdong Institute of Special Equipment Inspection, and DNV in Guangzhou on DNV’s Asset Integrity Management software products and services.
Regulatory authorities in many countries have recognised the validity of a risk based approach to inspection and maintenance management and are agreeing changes to fixed interval inspection regimes based on a Risk Based Inspection (RBI) approach. China, as one of the largest energy giants, is catching up by absorbing more and more of the advanced knowledge and technologies available in the world, and opening up their huge market to knowledge based organisation like DNV.
By closing the contract with GDSEI in August on our Asset Integrity Management products and services, DNV Software and DNV Energy have joint forces in delivering state of the art Orbit software and quality RBI training. Luo Wei-Jian, the Chief Engineer of GDSEI) said after signing: “We hope to get the highest quality products and service from DNV, in order to help more local companies to enhance their inspection plans based on risk.”
“We hope to grow with local companies by delivering Asset Integrity Management Solutions,” added Kevin Sun, country manager for DNV Software Greater China.

As one of the main activities of the RBI business in China, DNV Energy delivered the RBI level I course to participants from GDSEI in April, and the higher level RBI training will be conducted by the end of September.
DNV Energy will collaborate with GDSEI in the subsequent RBI study, while DNV Software will provide the Orbit Onshore and Orbit+ IDS software licenses and the implementation and training services. Li Jian Wen, regional sales manager DNV Software, says: “One DNV is definitely the way to success. Sharing the DNV brand in the marketplace and close internal cooperation is essential to build up the market in China. It is important to find win-win solutions for all.”
