Lessons in Learning, e-Learning, and Training
Perspectives and Guidance for the Enlightened Trainer, Schank R., Pfeiffer, 2005, ISBN 0787976660.
Nothing really new if you’re used to the work of Roger Schank, but nevertheless really helpful and practical material if you start to think about mapping the techniques proposed to organisation learning settings. It helped me think about making the knowledge cycle connect the corporate memory to work and learning in action. As Amazon rightly says, the book ‘helps to illuminate three main points: what can and cannot be taught; how people think and learn; and what technology can really effectively provide’.Practical Aspects of Interview and Interrogation
Wicklander D., Zulawski D., Geberth V., 2001, ISBN 0849301017.
As a knowledge management Consultant a large part of your job is about extracting, understanding and modelling knowledge structures in organisations. Interviewing is of course an indispensable tool for this. I thought I knew everything there was to know about that, until I came across this book, which scared me off by its title initially, but intrigued me at the same time: although the main part of this book is about interviewing in legal situations, it gives a deep insight in getting down to the truth in face-to-face situations! The Visual Display of Quantitative Information
Tufte E., 2001, ISBN 0961392142.
As I’m interested in the concept of knowledge mapping (and maps in general…), this classic book is a great source of inspiration and deep thought on what it means to visualise complex information (don’t be mislead by the title, it will bring value to those designing visualisations for qualitative information as well!).
