The integrated carbon and energy (ICE) Management service has been developed to improve the energy efficiency and reduce the carbon emissions of an organization. It is based on the proven ‘plan-do-check-act’ – approach and relies on optimally combining technical, organizational and behavioral measures. For this purpose, a technical and a non-technical track run horizontally through all four service phases. Energy savings of 5-15% or more have been achieved by using this approach.
During the first phase, the technical, organizational and behavioral baseline is established. The energy and carbon footprint is determined and the energy management performance is assessed using a proprietary rating protocol.
Based on this baseline, improvements are identified and prioritized using a feasibility analysis that takes financial, environmental and social aspects into account. Depending on the customer’s needs, assistance for the actual implementation of the selected improvements can also be included.
Once the selected improvements have been implemented, a new technical, organizational and behavioral assessment is conducted in the third phase to verify the effectiveness of the changes.
Customized training and guidance constitutes the fourth phase of the service. This is aimed at ensuring a cycle of continuous improvement in the organization so that the energy performance will continue to be enhanced after completion of the service.
