Hydrogen+Diffusion+Demonstration

Print this page Save as PDF
In our never-ending pursuit to educate the world about hydrogen cracking, we here at DNV Columbus have produced a video that shows the diffusion of hydrogen from welds made using different types of electrodes.

The video shows the beneficial effect of preheating and slow cooling and the importance of proper care of low-hydrogen electrodes. The production of this video was jointly funded by DNV Columbus and Spectra Energy. The animation that is shown was provided by BMT Fleet Technology. (NOTE: There is a slight error in the narration - Two orders of magnitude is 100 times, not 1000 times.)
