DNV already serves a large portion of the U.S. wind and solar markets, but has great ambitions both for growth and the development of knowledge and technology within these emerging markets.

Robert Z. Poore will be responsible for an increasingly emphasis on improving technical understanding, strengthening the company’s products and methods and further meeting the needs of the industry players.

His more than 30 years of experience as a wind energy project manager, engineer and consultant in both the US and international markets make him well qualified for his new position. Robert Z. Poore’s previous role was Head of Department in the Seattle and Boston offices. Now, he will have the responsibility for DNV’s cleaner energy operations in the US, including wind and solar, in addition to technology and development for connection of renewable power to the grid. DNV’s cleaner energy offices are located in Seattle, Houston, Boston and San Ramon, with about 170 employees.

“I’m looking forward to spending more time with our clients in order to understand their future needs and with our own technical team to develop solutions and services,” says Robert Z. Poore.

Stephen R. Jones, who has more than 18 years of engineering consulting experience and has spent 13 years in the wind energy industry, brings his strong management experience to lead the further development of DNV’s Seattle and Boston offices, with a special focus on the wind and solar industries. His recent work centred on due diligences for wind power project financings and acquisitions, a field in which DNV is one of the leading consultancies in North America.

The wind industry is moving into the mainstream but there are still many technical, environmental, and financial challenges that investors, manufacturers, and developers need to understand thoroughly in order for their businesses to be successful. “Based on its global technology leadership within the maritime, oil & gas and cleaner energies industries, DNV is particularly well positioned to bring its competency in risk management and offshore energy to the U.S. offshore wind market. I look forward to sharing this competency in the US,” says Stephen R. Jones.
