The integration of refugees, peace marches, and support for those suffering from AIDS – these are all examples of voluntary humanitarian initiatives by DNV employees.

Basma Ali from Somalia together with experienced refugee guide DNV’s Ingebjørg Gravlien.

1,695 men, women and children who were victims of the earthquake in Kashmir, Pakistan, slept through cold nights in warm sleeping bags from DNV.

A family day was arranged together with the Norwegian Red Cross in the park outside the headquarters at Høvik.
Many DNV employees want to get involved in humanitarian work, and many have done so through their local Red Cross organisation.
Some examples of this are:
- DNV Norway employees are Red Cross refugee guides- DNV UK organised a Red Cross peace march
- DNV South Africa has supported an AIDS hospice in Durban
- DNV Norway employees raised funds for victims of the 2005 earthquake in Pakistan.
Additional local initiatives are welcome and DNV employees are invited to come up with ideas.
Typical Red Cross or Red Crescent programmes are:
- emergency shelter, food and medicine - first aid training - HIV/AIDS prevention - blood donor recruitment - youth activities
